a new year

Here it is, ten days in before I am finally taking the time to sit and write. Happy New Year everyone...I hope this is everyones best year yet and we all stay happy and healthy. I think most of us have some concrete thoughts about what they want a new year to bring....I know my list of 'life/self improvements' is lengthy but I'm not going to stress myself out over it...just take my time and make them happen and devleop in its own time (like my blog posts!).

Now, speaking of healthy....unfortunately, we have had one sick boy over here. Friday morning, Nicholas woke up while I was getting ready for work and came in to let me know that he is not feeling well. I have to admit, I never know for sure if he is being totally honest as he likes to come up with ideas on how to get Mommy to stay home (yes, he sure knows how to tug my heartstrings)....BUT I had a look in his eyes and I could see that my little boy was not well. At the time, he did seem well enough to at least make it over to daycare and rest. More than anything, I just wanted to call work and let them know I wouldn't be in but it wasn't really an option that day so off to daycare and en route, made a call to Johnathon to fill him in. He had a couple meetings that morning and then thankfully, he would be able to head home and pick up the boys late morning. By time he reached daycare, poor little munchkin had thrown up a couple of times and he now had a fever, no appetitite at all and just not well. Daddy carted him off to the doctor although we both knew he had the flu. So, it's been plenty of rest, plenty of liquids, fever reducers and LOTS of LOVE! Oh, and Nicholas seems to get a rash over his body when he is sick like this. So, we have been caking on the anti-itch lotion and calamine lotion and it helps alot with the itchiness.

I am happy to report though that as of right now while I write, he is doing MUCH better. He still has a bit of the rash and a little itch but other than that, fever is completely gone and he looks 99% better. And I would be much happier if his appetite would come back but he has at least been eating fruit and drinking lots of juice and water. I know it's not back when he could only stomach one or two bites of his favourite breakfast, waffles with plenty of blueberries on top!

Shane is doing wonderfully....with all the sickness that Nicholas, Johnathon and I have been going through, he has managed to escape it all and is his regular happy, rambunctious, cute as a button self. And yes, I am touching wood!

Sydney flew home last weekend and we are all missing her around here. A wonderful visit that always flies by so quickly. But how awesome that next time we see her, we will be flying to the Mayan!

Yes, the resort search that seems to have been going on for months has finally been decided upon. I think. Once I have confirmation from Mom and Dad, it will be booked! And all I can do is hope that everyone is happy with the choice. But truly, who won't be happy soaking up tropical sunshine, enjoying the waters of the ocean and like 12 pools, the beach, the snorkelling, the Ruins....and yes, the cervezas and margaritas!! Countdown is on to Feb 28th.....where we won't see any of this -
